I always thought it was not very useful, until I used it for the first time.
Its use is very specific. It is used to finish the surface layer of the soil when transplanting. We have to press the whole surface of the soil with it, not only so that it is better presented, but also so that the akadama is grouped together and does not get washed away by watering so easily.

This work is done when the substrate is still dry, just before the first watering. What happens if I do it later? The akadama can fall apart and stick to the trowel, so you won’t be able to do the work.
